Veterinary Careers in Frisco, TX

Frisco Emergency Pet Care has been growing since our start in 2016, so much so that we moved to a new facility in 2023, three times the size of the original practice.

We are looking for compassionate people at the front desk and in the treatment room. If you really care about pets and their people and can treat your teammates with the same compassion, please check out our positions below:

Open Positions

Veterinarian

Tired of working for a rigid corporation with minimal growth & learning opportunities?

We are an independent hospital, and we do things a little differently. Our focus is on compassion and doing the right thing for both pets and the people that belong to them.

We provide the highest level of medical care we can (and if they need to be under the care of a criticalist, we refer them right away) and use advanced diagnostics, as expected (digital radiographs, tons of ultrasound, in-house blood analyzers, and 3D CT that was added when we moved).

Whether you are a new grad or a little more seasoned, if you treat your patients, clients, and teammates with compassion, we’d be happy to have a conversation.

Please email our Chief of Staff, Dr. LoSasso, at mlosassodvm@friscoemergencypetcare.com

ER Veterinary Technician

Frisco Emergency Pet Care is seeking experienced veterinary technicians to join our team. We are looking for, above all, someone that is compassionate; this applies to patient care, client service, and teamwork. If you feel your patient’s pain, can empathize with distraught, fearful, or grieving pet owners, and be there for your teammates, you’re our kind of person!

The ideal candidate would have multiple years of emergency veterinary technician experience and a strong work ethic, but compassion and a willingness to learn trumps experience. If you love general practice but want to see challenging cases, this practice is for you.

We pride ourselves on practicing high-quality medicine with exceptional customer and patient care. We have digital radiography, ultrasound (we use the heck out of that machine!), and in-house blood analyzers that all tie in directly with our practice management system. We added 3D CT when we moved to our beautiful new building in the fall of 2023!

The compensation package includes competitive pay commensurate with experience, paid time off, 401(k) with matching, fully paid health insurance, pet health discount, uniforms, and continuing education.

Receptionist/CSR

Frisco Emergency Pet Care is seeking people-lovers to join our CSR team. We are looking for, above all, someone that is compassionate – without exception, anyone bringing a pet to our hospital is stressed (and usually scared). While no one else in vet med wants to admit it, the CSR job is the most challenging one in the building.

The ideal candidate would have multiple years of emergency veterinary CSR experience, but compassion and a willingness to learn are even more important. If you truly enjoy helping people, this is a very rewarding position – turning people from stressed and scared to more relaxed is very fulfilling, but sometimes we get pet owners that are abusive to staff and refuse to turn themselves around. While this can be a fine line (a little compassion goes a long way), we don’t tolerate clients that abuse the staff, and they will be asked to take their pets and their business down the road.

The compensation package includes competitive pay commensurate with experience, paid time off, 401(k) with matching, fully paid health insurance, pet health discount, uniforms, and continuing education.

Student Extern
Externships provide an essential part of your veterinary training, and only a small part is medicine (don’t tell your dean we said that).

An externship at Frisco Emergency Pet Care will provide you with a massive amount of information and learning from a group of amazing doctors that are willing to teach and push students to learn and grow. Instead of watching surgery from behind the residents, like in school, we get you right in there, assisting with surgery when you are not examining patients, performing ultrasounds, assisting with endoscopy, or interpreting 3D CT scans or radiographs. There is some medicine, after all!

But there is more to practice, and life, than medicine. Learn and discuss ways technology can improve efficiency and quality of practice (learn from us, but we are willing to learn, too) and the importance of a practice’s culture on the rate of burnout.

With most students, an externship is really a two-week-long job interview. We will be evaluating you, not only from an academic standpoint (we do have an obligation to your school) but to see how well you fit into our culture (as in, “would you make a good addition?”). At the same time, you will be evaluating us to make sure this is the place, and the type of medicine, that you want when starting your practice career. While spending time with the veterinarians is great, we recommend taking time to get to know the technicians, CSRs, management, and social workers to make sure you really understand what it is like to work at FEPC.

Can a new grad jump into a busy ER right out of school? Good question, see the video below. We have hired four (4!) new grads straight out of school from LSU, OSU, and Texas A&M. As it turns out, they are all exceptional people with strong skills and compassion for pets and their owners, and they have all excelled under the mentorship of our more experienced doctors.

We are so committed to advancing your veterinary career through externships, that we built a special room for externs to stay in (right next to a dedicated bathroom and shower) when we built our new facility.

If you are interested in an externship, please email our Chief of Staff, Dr. LoSasso, at mlosassodvm@friscoemergencypetcare.com
