Radiography is a valuable tool that we use every day to assess the skeletons, hearts, lungs, and intestinal tracts of our patients.

Ultrasound is another very valuable tool that can identify masses and fluid (including fluid in the lungs) with a lot more sensitivity than radiographs. One does not replace the other; they are complementary tools often used together.

However, there are times when a disease process cannot be visualized or understood with radiographs or with ultrasound. Enter the CT. Our Vimago 3D CT machine enables us to see inside the head, where ultrasound sound waves cannot penetrate, and radiographs cannot provide the same level of detail. CT is also useful for diagnosing diseases in the chest and abdomen.
